The Morning Journal and Lorain County Community College, in conjunction
with Lorain National Bank and the accounting firm of Barnes Wendling CPAs
Inc., set out more than a year ago to honor 15 established and 15 emerging
companies in Lorain, Erie and Huron counties.
Companies were ranked according to self-reported sales and employment
figures from the last five years. Norwalk-based Newcomer Concrete and
Amherst-based Crystal Mortgage each received special recognition as the
top-ranking established and emerging companies, respectively. Other
honorees included: All Phase Power & Lighting Inc., AJ Rose
Manufacturing, Beckett Air Inc., Beckett Gas Inc., Cedar Fair, DeLuca's
Place in The Park, Elyria Spring and Specialty Company, Erie Shores
Computer Inc., Fairweather Roofing Inc., Geisel
Heating & Air Conditioning Inc.,

Head Quarters Inc., Hydro-Tube Corporation, Invacare Corporation, JBC
Seals, Packing and Kits Inc., Jack Kelly CLU & Associates, Kelch
Manufacturing Corp., Lakeland Enterprises Inc., Lake Erie Custom Homes,
Lasercraft Inc., LISN, M.Ballard & Associates, Multi Corporation, Ohio
Metallurgical Services Inc., River Plumbing Inc., Sibley Incorporated,
Sprenger Enterprises and The Geon Company.
The Golden 30 companies are responsible for a 58 percent increase in
employment since 1993, with a total employment of nearly 23,000 since
1997.
The awards ceremony was held Thursday, November 13 at LCCC's John A.
Spitzer Conference Center. Each Golden 30 recipient received a
personalized engraved crystal award in recognition of their business
accomplishments. |
